Empakaai Crater hike, About 40 kilometers northeast of its famous big brother, the Ngorongoro Crater, is the Empakaai Crater, which is so far away that it seems like the end of the world. Walking from the edge of the crater to the lake at the bottom takes about 45 minutes. The lake often has groups of flamingos floating on it, giving it a pinkish color. On clear days, you can even see the beautiful Ol Donyo Lengai from the edge of the crater.
