Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is a small, beautiful park in the northeast of Tanzania. Arusha is close by, and there are great views of Mount Kilimanjaro from there. Wildlife and plants of many different kinds can be found in this beautiful park. And it has a lot of different types of scenery.
It has volcanoes, mountains, swamps, lakes, waterfalls, and tropical jungle, making it a great place for all kinds of animals. Many beautiful birds, like the silvery-cheeked hornbill and thousands of pink-hued flamingos, come to the swamps, forests, and lakes. The black-and-white colobus monkey is also only easy to see in this park and nowhere else in northern Tanzania.
Mount Meru
Arusha National Park is home to Mount Meru. At 4,566 meters (14,990 feet) tall, this bedrock volcano is Tanzania’s second tallest mountain. It is a beautiful mountain, but it is hard to climb. From the top, you can see the Momella Lakes, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the steppes of the park in a wide view. A day walk on Mount Meru changes things up and gives you a new view. We also set up hikes to the top…
Walk safaris or canoeing on the lake
In Arusha National Park, a canoe or walking tour with an armed ranger is a favourite way to go on safari. There are many kinds of animals in the Momella lakes in the northeast, for example. They are out in the open, and hippos and many types of birds live there. A huge number of bucks and bulls can be seen near the lakes. A great chance to see animals up close and from a different angle than from a safari car. Definitely a hunting experience you’ll never forget!
You can get to Arusha National Park from town in about 45 minutes. Mount Kilimanjaro is about 50 km (31 miles) away.
