Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Your Tanzania Zanzibar Safari guide meets you with a big smile as you leave Kilimanjaro International Airport: “Karibu Tanzania! Welcome to Tanzania!” The guide takes you straight to your hotel, where you can unwind and enjoy the African vibe. The following day, your guide takes you on a private tour where you can go at your own speed. You can stop and watch the animals for as long as you want in the comfort of your own adventure jeep.

Day 2: Walk from Materuni village to Kuringe waterfall

People who want to see Mount Kilimanjaro without climbing it should take a walk from Materuni to the Kuringe waterfalls. A guide from Materuni will take you on a beautiful 40-minute walk to the amazing 70-meter-high waterfall. The path goes through valleys and tropical rain forests at an elevation of 2,500 meters. It goes from beautiful wide views to farms with lots of coffee, bananas, and avocados.

Day 3: Arusha National Park

You will go on your first real game drive today in Arusha National Park! There are a lot of tropical birds in this park near Arusha. You can also see the black and white Colobus monkey and some rare albino baboons. You might see a Colobus monkey, a few rare bird species, like the beautiful Silvery Cheeked Hornbill, and if you’re really lucky, you might even see an albino. There is a lake, a few craters, waterfalls, mountains, and lovely green plains in the park as well.

Day 4 – 5: Tarangire National Park

Trees called baobabs and large groups of elephants make Tarangire National Park famous. There are some trees that can live for hundreds of years. During the dry season, elephants have a special way to get water from these trees. Also, the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season. That’s why you can see groups of up to 250 elephants and lots of other animals in Tarangire during this time!\

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park

It is right next to the Great Rift Valley, which is 400 meters deep, and is in between Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. There are many types of scenery in the park, which is why many kinds of animals come there. For example, you can go to the lake that takes up 75% of the park, walk through a thick rainforest full of monkeys and birds, and get up close to elephants in the woods.

Day 7: A taste of culture – Mto wa Mbu: Mountain bike ride & Maasai village

The town of Mto wa Mbu is close to Lake Manyara National Park. It is a green spot in the middle of the Maasai plains that surround it. Riding a mountain bike is a great way to learn about the culture and see this cute little town, the lush green nature around it, and the banana plantations. Then get off your bike and go to a nearby Maasai town. There, people from the Maasai tribe will show you how they live.

Day 8 – 9: Lake Natron

It is in the north of Tanzania, just above the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Natron is a unique place. The alkaline lake is famous for its bright red color and is a photographer’s dream. There are even more flamingos in the lake from August to October, which makes it even more pink. The dry, dusty scenery, the lake that looks like a mirror, and the nearby volcanic mountains make for a raw and strange beauty that you won’t soon forget.

Day 10 – 12: Serengeti National Park (central west/east)

A lot of people know Serengeti National Park as the best vacation spot, mostly because this is where the Great Migration goes. There are over 4,000 lions, 225 cheetahs, 1,000 leopards, 3,500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs living here. The huge herds that charge at each other are also amazing. Day 13: Ngorongoro Conservation Area (incl. Crater)

One of Africa’s seven natural wonders is the well-known Ngorongoro Crater. Two million years ago, a huge volcano exploded and made the crater. The fertile lava has made a unique environment that is now home to more animals than any other place in Africa. There are thousands of animals, like lions, zebras, buffalo, and black rhinos, all around you in the crater, and the views are breathtaking.

Day 14: Empakaai Crater hike

The famous Ngorongoro Crater is about 40 kilometers northeast of the Empakaai Crater. It is so far away from everything else that it seems like the end of the world. It takes about 45 minutes to walk from the edge of the crater to the lake at the bottom. Many times, groups of flamingos cover the lake, giving it a pinkish color. If it’s a clear day, you can even see the beautiful Ol Donyo Lengai from the edge of the crater.

Day 15: Visit Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe tribe

A day trip to Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe people who live there is very interesting. Lake Eyasi is a small salt lake that forms in the summer south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. It is a birdwatcher’s dream. First, look for hippos in the shallow water. Then, get your glasses and look for birds like the African spoonbill, flamingos, gray-headed gulls, great white pelicans, and pied avocets. Then go see the Hadzabe bushmen, who are experts at hunting with bows.

Day 16: The last day and your flight home from Kilimanjaro Int. Airport

Today is the last day! You may have a little more time to relax at the lodge before our driver gets you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home. Having second thoughts?
