Pemba Island
Pemba Island. One of the islands in the Zanzibar Archipelago that not many people know about is Pemba Island. However, a lot of people go there on their vacation. This is the place to be if you want to relax, feel calm, and be with someone special. The coral reefs that circle the island make it a great place for snorkelers and divers to play.
The sea life in the Pemba channel is amazing, and it feels a lot like an underwater paradise. You can see a lot of different kinds of fish, sharks, dolphins, and even whales here. Also, don’t forget to check out the different water sports. From kayaking, kite surfing, and wind surfing to a lovely sailboat ride at sunset, there are lots of things to do.
This is how you stay!
Here are our top three favorite places to stay, just for a quick look:
For the Silver category, we have Pemba Lodge, which is the first real ecolodge on Pemba and works to help its guests, nature, and the people who live on the island. The five simple but beautiful African-style houses are made to make you feel at ease and connected to nature.
The Manta Resort is a great choice for our Gold group. An island hideaway in the middle of nowhere that focuses on giving you real Swahili kindness and modern comfort. At the lodge, there is a room that is submerged in water that you won’t want to miss! They should also be praised for the work they do as a community to protect Pemba’s African history, bring back its marine life, and make sure that tourists can enjoy a unique and sustainable experience.
Finally, our Platinum group is the boutique hotel Fundu Lagoon, which has won many awards. A small, private luxury hideaway surrounded by mangroves that can only be reached by boat. Twelve private rooms and suites on hillsides and on the beach offer warmth and privacy in a jungle-like setting. Honeymooners get a free bottle of prosecco, a massage, and a private dinner to start their days of peace, romance, and rest. Please remember that Fundu Lagoon is not a good place for kids younger than 12 years old.
The Green Island
They also call it “the green island.” The main reason is that it has rich, fertile earth, lush green hills, and lots of plants. It’s because of this that this island has a lot of forests, mango trees, and huge clove farms. A third of the people live off of fishing and small-scale farming like growing bananas, potatoes, cloves, and cinnamon. Last but not least, Pemba’s species is beautiful above and below the water. There are also bush babies, flying foxes, and vervet monkeys on the island.
You can visit Pemba Island and then stay on Zanzibar Island, Mafia Island, or go on a Tanzania Safari on the main land. Get in touch with us to get personalized help on how to include Pemba Island in your safari plans.
