When is the best time to visit Tanzania

A lot of tourists ask us when the best time is to go to Tanzania. There isn’t just one right answer. It depends on what you like, where you want to go, how much money you have, and what you want to see. This page tells you everything you need to know about the best times to visit Tanzania.

Dry Season (June to October and December to February): The nice weather and great chances to see wildlife make these months perfect for safaris and trips to the beach. You can expect hotel prices to go up and parks and sites to be busier, though.

Midseason, which lasts from March to November, is a good time to visit because hotel prices are average and there aren’t as many tourists. Even though the weather can change and some sites may not be open because of rain, you can still see a lot of wildlife and have a more relaxed safari experience.

The wet season, which lasts from April to May, is great for tourists on a budget because it’s when hotel prices are lowest and parks are least crowded. The heavy rains make the scenery bright and lush, but the weather can change your trip plans.

You will go on your first real game drive today in Arusha National Park! There are a lot of tropical birds in this park near Arusha. You can also see the black and white Colobus monkey and some rare albino baboons. You might see a Colobus monkey, a few rare bird species, like the beautiful Silvery Cheeked Hornbill, and if you’re really lucky, you might even see an albino. There is a lake, a few craters, waterfalls, mountains, and lovely green plains in the park as well.

You can take it easy at your hotel today and enjoy the friendly service, or you can do a lot of different things in the city! One place you could go is the beautiful Mount Meru waterfalls. It’s only a short walk to get there, and then you can cool off in the cold water below the waterfall. Enjoy your lunch in this peaceful area with singing birds and moving water. On your way back, try to spot the amazing Colobus monkey or the Silvery Cheeked Hornbill.

Day 5: Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is famous for having a lot of elephants and big baobab trees. Some of these trees have been around for hundreds of years. During the dry season, elephants use a special method to get water from these trees. Also, during the dry season, the Tarangire River is the only source of water. That’s why you can see groups of up to 250 elephants in Tarangire, along with many other animals.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Conservation Area (incl. Crater)

One of Africa’s seven natural wonders is the well-known Ngorongoro Crater. Two million years ago, a huge volcano exploded and made the crater. Then go to Stone Town and learn all about its past. People who like to eat can also go to the spice farms and try the different flavors of the tasty local food. Get ready for a tropical paradise!

Day 11 – 16: Zanzibar

Beautiful, exotic Zanzibar is the ultimate paradise. The Indian Ocean is a bright blue color, and the white sand beaches are just about too beautiful to be real. You can buy fresh coconut drinks on the beach, lay out in the sun or swim for hours, and eat some of Zanzibar’s best food. Are you ready to do something? Then do a variety of things to see the beach, ocean, and island! The Safari Blue Cruise or a tour of Stone Town are both great ideas.

Day 17 – 18: Flight home from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ)

Today is the last day! You can either chill out on the beach or see a little more of the island, depending on when your trip is. After that, a driver gets you to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your home trip. Having second thoughts? You can also add another paradise island to your trip, like Mnemba, Pemba, or Mafia!
