9 DAYS SAFARI MIKUMI + RUAHA + SELOUS
9 DAYS SAFARI MIKUMI + RUAHA + SELOUS. This is the best safari package to see three of Tanzania’s southern national parks. The Big Five are just a few of the many animals that live in Mikumi National Park. There is a better chance of seeing lions climbing trees here than in other parks. In East Africa, Ruaha National Park is likely home to more elephants than any other park. It is also the second-largest park. When is the best time to visit Tanzania?
A lot of tourists ask us when the best time is to go to Tanzania. There isn’t just one right answer. It depends on what you like, where you want to go, how much money you have, and what you want to see. This page tells you everything you need to know about the best times to visit Tanzania.
Dry Season (June to October and December to February): The nice weather and great chances to see wildlife make these months perfect for safaris and trips to the beach. You can expect hotel prices to go up and parks and sites to be busier, though.
Midseason, which lasts from March to November, is a good time to visit because hotel prices are average and there aren’t as many tourists. Even though the weather can change and some sites may not be open because of rain, you can still see a lot of wildlife and have a more relaxed safari experience.
The wet season, which lasts from April to May, is great for tourists on a budget because it’s when hotel prices are lowest and parks are least crowded. The heavy rains make the scenery bright and lush, but the weather can change your trip plans.

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam
Hey, welcome to Tanzania! As soon as you land at Dar es Salaam Airport, our informed and friendly guide will be there to greet you. He will be ready to help you and make sure your ride to your hotel goes smoothly. Relax and take it easy while we take care of all your travel needs and make sure you have an amazing time in Tanzania.
Day 2 – 3: Mikumi National Park
This is Tanzania’s fourth biggest national park. It takes six hours to drive there from Dar Es Salaam. People often compare the Mikumi plains to the more famous Serengeti plains because of their wide open spaces and large populations of wildlife. However, Mikumi is easy to get to because it is close to Tanzania’s biggest city. There are many kinds of animals in the park. It’s easy to see elephants, cows, zebras, and giraffes. You can also see lions mating and a lot of hippos in the park’s own pool.
Day 4 – 5: Ruaha National Park
There are three national parks in Tanzania, and Ruaha is the third biggest. It is on the Great Ruaha River and is famous for having a lot of elephants. With over 570 kinds of birds, it is a birdwatcher’s dream. Also, you might see snakes, elands, sable antelopes, jackals, or the very rare African wild dog. When you go on a game drive in this beautiful but quiet park, you get to see an environment that hasn’t been changed in any way.
Day 6: Nyerere National Park
Today, you’ll explore the jungle, grassland, and river banks of Nyerere National Park, which used to be called the Selous Game Reserve. This is a great place to go on a game drive. Fewer people visit this park in southern Tanzania than the parks in the north, but it is home to elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, giraffes, the rare African wild dog, the endangered rhino, and more. The only bigger park in the country is Serengeti National Park, so get ready to walk a lot!
Day 7: Full day boat safari in Nyerere National Park
It’s fun and relaxing to go on a boat tour on the Rufiji River in Nyerere National Park. The boat takes you across the river and to nearby lakes, where you can see many animals that come to the water. A lot of people see giraffes, impalas, waterbucks, kudus, and warthogs. Elephants or alligators bathing can also be seen from time to time, and the many kinds of birds always make noise. On the trip, there will be an outdoor lunch by one of the lakes.
Day 8 – 9: Flight to Dar Es Salaam and flight home
Today is your last day! You are taking a plane today to get to Dar Es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport. From there, you will ride home. Having second thoughts? Then don’t think twice about adding a trip to one of Tanzania’s beautiful islands, like Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia!
