10 Best Beaches in Tanzania

10 Best Beaches in Tanzania

10 Best Beaches in Tanzania, Tanzania is a very flexible place to go on vacation. It is in the southern half of Africa. This lovely country has something for everyone, whether you like to do a lot during your vacation or just want to relax with a book and a spot on the beach.

When we talk about beaches, did you know that Tanzania has some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world? Come with me as I show you the best beaches in Tanzania.

A list of the seven most beautiful beaches in Tanzania

There is Paje Beach and Jambiani Beach.

A lot of people think that Paje Beach and Jambiani Beach are Zanzibar’s most beautiful beaches. It’s hard to say no when there’s white sand, clear blue water, lots of bars and restaurants, and a lot of places to stay. However, that’s not really what makes it stand out.

For kite surfers, Paje Beach is heaven. Every year, thousands of fans from all over the world come to this beautiful spot to enjoy the good winds, lack of sea urchins, and shallow water. Plan your trip for June through August or December through February if you like windsurfing. Those are the months with the best winds. Also, wouldn’t it be nice to get away from the cold and darkness that winter brings?

If you want to get the most out of those beaches, make sure you go at high tide.

Beach at Ras Kutani

You can find Ras Kutani Beach on Tanzania’s island. It’s a beautiful beach close to Dar es Salaam, which is Tanzania’s biggest city. This high-end camp is the perfect place to stay when you want to get away from the noise and chaos of the city for a while or when you want to fully enjoy Tanzania’s beauty.

If you’d rather have a more active vacation, Ras Kutani Beach has a lot to offer. You can go snorkeling and see The Chyko’s shipwreck, bodyboarding, or on a trip to the nearby tropical forest to see different kinds of monkeys.

Beach at Nungwi

Nungwi Beach, which is north of Zanzibar, is one of the most famous beaches in Tanzania, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a great place to relax with beautiful views because it has white sand and clear water.

This beach has more rocks along the edge, so there aren’t many places to sit on the sand during high tide. But the views are worth it! You can see both the sun going down and the sun rising over the ocean from Nungwi.

There are no coral reefs close to the beach, so it’s a good spot for people who like to surf and sail. You can also start snorkeling and dolphin trips from there.

If you’re looking for the best beaches in Tanzania, Nungwi Beach is a great place to go. It has a lot of restaurants serving local food, bars, and places to stay in the area.

Island of Fanjove

Fanjove Island, which is the smallest island in the Songo Songo Archipelago, is a great place to go on an adventure in the middle of nowhere. It has just six bandas, so you’ll be surrounded by nature for the most part!

Fanjove Island used to be free, but there were a few fishermen who used it as a base from time to time. All of the island’s plants and animals were able to live. Today, tourists can enjoy the wide range of animals, such as humpback whales, green turtles, spinner dolphins, seabirds, tropical fish, and coconut crabs. Not to mention the miles of protected coral reefs that are home to beautiful sea life.

The National Park of Saadani

Saadani National Park might be the best place for you if you’re not sure whether you want to spend your days in Tanzania exploring the wildlife or resting on the beach. In this national park, you can spend the day watching animals and plants and then relax on the beach right after. It’s one of the few places where the bush meets the beach.

There are several towns around the park that you might want to visit if you are interested in history. The Saadani village, which is the name of the national park, is one that stands out. It was once an important harbor town and a center for selling slaves in East Africa.

The Vumawimbi Beach

You can see how Zanzibar fishermen spend their days by watching them ride their bikes to their traditional boat on Pemba Island’s Vumawimbi Beach. They go out to fish every day. Many aquatic species live in its rich and healthy coral reef, which makes it a great place for snorkeling fans.

Relaxing will be easy with soft white sand, clear blue water, waving palm trees, and an atmosphere that screams peace and quiet.

Mafia Island

Because there are so many beaches on the island, we chose to include it as a whole instead of just giving one name. People may not visit Mafia Island as much as they visit Zanzibar, but for people who love diving, it’s a dream come true.

You might be able to swim with whale sharks if you go from October to April. You might have to try a few days in a row, since reports aren’t always possible, but it will be worth it in the end. How many people can really say they swam with whale sharks? In the Marine Park, you can also swim and see amazing coral reefs and sea creatures like dolphins, turtles, and octopuses.

People who like more “down-to-earth” activities can also find something to do. For example, you can go to nearby Chole Island, where time seems to have stopped, or the old lighthouse on the north side of Mafia Island.

Another beach in Tanzania that you might want to visit

There are too many beautiful beaches in Tanzania for us to write about them all in one piece. In addition to the places we already talked about, here are some more that you should at least think about going to the next time you’re in Tanzania.

Island of Misali

Misali Island is close to Pemba Island and is a great place for tourists who like to do a lot. Not only is snorkeling great, but there are also many nature walks that you can take to really see how beautiful this island is.

Because Misali Island doesn’t have any fresh water, no one lives there, and guests aren’t allowed to camp there, so you’ll have to find a place to stay on Pemba Island. Even though there were no original people living there, it was and still is an important place for fishing.

People also went there for spiritual reasons because they thought the caves on the island were home to the souls of their ancestors. Some people still leave gifts at the exits to the caves because they think it will bring them good health and big catches.

Alys Beach

Coco Beach is a great place to get the best of both worlds. It is also known as Oyster Bay. Even though you are in Dar es Salaam, which is close to everything you might need, the beautiful scenery around you will make you feel like you are on a tropical island. Also, Coco Beach has a lot of outdoor things that you can do, like surfing, going to concerts outside, and having beach parties.

Most people from the area go to this beach, which gives it a different feel with food sellers, music, and lots of people walking around. You want to get a feel for how people live in cities in Tanzania? See you at Coco Beach!

Beach in Kunduchi

Kunduchi Beach, which is also close to Dar es Salaam, is at the top of our list. Kunduchi Wet ‘n’ Wild, the biggest water park in East Africa, is close by, making this a good place to stay if you have kids.

People who are interested in history can also enjoy the area. There are the remains of a mosque from the 16th century, pillar tombs from the 18th century that are decorated with Chinese china, and Mbweni graves, though they are a bit farther away.

We also want to talk about Mbudya Island (near Kundichi Beach) and Bongoyo Island (near Masaki Beach). Both of these islands have beautiful beaches. A boat from the area gets you there. These are islands where no one lives, but people go on the weekends. There are even huge coconut crabs on Mbudya.
