Choose lodges that pamper you after your safari (yes, you have to do one!) if you want a little more rest and luxury on your trip. You could even fly instead of driving from one spot to the next!
If you want to enjoy Tanzania’s nightlife, all you have to do is go to Stone Town or Jambiani on Zanzibar. These places mix history with beach days, beach fires, and beach parties in a beautiful way.
No matter what you choose to do, exploring Tanzania with your friends will be a moment that you will always remember.
Outside Adventures
Go on safari with friends anywhere
A tour is something you have to do when you’re in Tanzania. You have to do it. You can see the Great Migration in the famous Serengeti, go deep into the Ngorongoro Crater, or find the secret beauty of Ruaha National Park, which is not as well known. There are many national parks in Tanzania; you just need to choose your favorites. Remember to keep your friends close and your camera close, no matter where you go on safari ๐
The Wildlife Residence in Arusha
If going to Arusha has been on your mind, the Wildlife Residence could be the right place for you and your friends. This cute and eco-friendly camp has it all: golf and polo with views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru; horse safaris with zebras, wildebeests, elands, and the rare gerenuk; and cocktails on the terrace as the sun goes down. Sounds great, right? Yes, that’s why!
Hot Springs at Rundugai
No matter if you’re a trip influencer or not, you need to see this natural wonder! These springs are between Arusha and Moshi. The water is so clear blue that it almost seems too good to be true. Take it easy in this beautiful natural spot, take lots of pictures in, on, and under the water, and use lines to swing into the water. This is the best kind of fun!
Visit the local tribes.
The Maasai are likely one of the most well-known groups of people in the world, and you can go see them at home. Going shooting with the Hadzabe is a great way to learn more about their culture. We have to tell you, though, that this is not for the faint of heart because you might see arrows being used to kill animals. Still, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of this unique tribe and learn their history and click language.
For those who want to learn even more about the Hadzabe and the nearby Datooga tribe, they offer overnight camping in their land. During the day, you and a few other tribe members go into the wilderness. At night, you all meet around a campfire. Everyone has a tasty meal and tells funny stories. Then everyone goes to sleep under the stars. Even though the tents are only made of mosquito nets, they have nice duvets and beds for you ๐
You can swim with whale sharks.
Swimming with whale sharks is a thrill for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned diver or just on vacation. From November to March, you can find these gentle giants of the sea on Mafia Island. Meeting them in their natural environment is truly amazing. You could also snorkel along the marine park’s beautiful coral reefs or just watch for humpback whales moving along the shore if you want to see more.
These are just a few of the many things you can do in Tanzania. Check out all of these things to do: hot air balloon tours, walks through the trees, and sunset cruises Of course, after I finish this piece ๐
Things to See in the Cities
Stone Town
This city is the historical center of Zanzibar. It is famous for its lively atmosphere, live concerts, and great rooftop bars and restaurants. But it also has a lot of history and lots of cute shops and markets that you should check out. The city really comes to life at sunset. On top of the DoubleTree by Hilton Zanzibar, you can enjoy a sunset drink on the roofs of Emerson Spice, Upendo House, or the Taarab Restaurant. At the Forodhani Gardens, you can get a snack that looks like it came from a market. Before dinner, you can also start the evening by watching the locals do somersaults into the water.
That’s it! Go to the Livingstone Bar. You can enjoy a half-priced sundowner with your feet in the sand while listening to live music and seeing acrobats and locals dance at sunset.
Sauti Za Busara
Live African music, both old and new, was played in the middle of Stone Town in an old fort. This is Sauti za Busara, a wonderful event that happens every February. So make sure you plan your vacation around this event and get your tickets early! It could be the best small fair you ever go to!
Pame and Jambiani on Zanzibar
You have to go to these two towns in the east of Zanzibar if you want to really live like a local on a tropical beach. There are lots of cafes, bars, and resorts, so you can always find a party or live music. During the day, you can just chill out at the pool or do some fun water sports with your friends. You could also take a bike, go on a spice tour, or see the Kua Cave. Of course you can dive, lay out in the sun, and swim in the clear water.
Hi, Mr. Kahawa
The best place to hang out in the middle of Paje: relax on the beach, jump in the pool, and share a simple room with your friends. There are also some beautifully built lofts where you can sleep if you want something fancier. Of course, they serve coffee (โkagawaโ means โcoffeeโ in Swahili), for those lazy, hot mornings that come after the happy, cool nights in the tropics.
The Full Moon Party in Kendwa
You can’t miss the Kendwa Full Moon Party if you happen to be in Zanzibar during a full moon. There are DJs, beautiful people, and a great vibe at this party right on the beach. Oh what a way to end (or start) another wonderful vacation with your best friends ๐
